Бала кезімізде «қаны бір ғой» , «қаны тартып тұр ғой» деген сөзді жиі естіп өстік. «Қанына тартпағанның қары сынсын», тағы басқа «қан» деген қасиетті ұғымдардың астарында туыстық жақындықтың нышаны жататынын аңғаратын едік. Бірақ қазақ неге осы сөзге тоқтаған? Мұның ғажап құпиясы мен терең мәнін қарапайым ғана қазақ шалы дәлелдегенде халықтың даналық көрегендігі мен өмірдің адам біле бермейтін, кез келген ғұламалардың өзі шеше алмайтын сансыз сырларына көз жеткіздік.

Сонымен қан … 1895 жылы әйгілі Бұқара медресесін бітіріп дәмолла атағын алған Кәтен 1899 жылы Мекке мен Мәдинаға барып қажы атанды. Туған жеріне келіп медресе ашты. Сөйтіп, бір түнде ғайып болған Кәтен бір таңда тағы да пайда болды.

«Кәтен келді» деген қуанышты хабар елден-елге, ауылдан қалаға қанат біткендей ұшып бара жатты. Бұған біреулер сенді, біреулер сенбеді, біреулер жағасын ұстады.

Кәтекең Таласбайдың кең үйінде отыр. Арманды сөздер, жүрек жарғандай қуаныштар, сағынышты өксу, көл болған көз жастары таусылар емес. Есік ашылып ішке кірген әр адамға Кәтен үмітпен қарайды. Біреулерді күтіп отырғандай, қатты алаңдаған жайы бар. Оны аңғарған сезімтал үй иесі сөз бастады.

Кәтен қарт бүгіліп қалды. Көзіне жас та келмеді. Үнсіз. Таласбай шошынды. Сосын: 

— Асыл аға! Көпті көрдіңіз ғой. Жақсы кездерді де жаман күндерді де бастан өткіздіңіз ғой, берік болыңыз. Мына ағайындарыңыз қорқып отыр. Бір ауыз сөз айтыңызшы.

— Иә, алла … – деді дәмолла. Күбірлеп, бет қайырды. Жұрт аяғы сиреген соң екі молда бірнеше күн бойы оңаша сөйлесті.

Алғаш рет Кәтеннен тәлім алып, кейін Уфа медресесін бітірген Таласбай молда да «халық жауы» ретінде 1937 жылы Сібір асып, осыдан үш жыл ғана бұрын оралған еді.

2-3 күн ішінде ақсақалдар мен көзкөргендер келіп сәлемдесті.
