Қазақ әдебиеті мен тілін зерттеп, ұлт құндылығын басты назарға алған белгілі ғалым, мемлекет және қоғам қайраткері, қаламгер Ахмет Байтұрсынұлының шығармашылық лабораториясына дендеп енсек, біршама өнегелі ойларды, өрелі пайымдарды кездестіреміз. Әсіресе, ақын аударма саласында тынбай еңбек етті. Орыстың әйгілі шайыры Иван Андреевич Крылов туындыларын қазақ тіліне аударып, 1909 жылы «Қырық мысал» деген атпен Петербург қаласында кітап қылып бастырды. Бұл – ең алдымен балалар әдебиетінің дамуына, балалар парасатының өсуіне әсер еткен классикалық шығармалар жинағы еді. Біздіңше, аталған сөздердің осылайша жариялануына немқұрайлылық пен заң үстемдігінің жоқтығы әсерін тигізген. А.Байтұрсынұлының И.А.Крыловтан аударған өлеңдерін  тура мағынадағы аударма емес, еркін аударма деп қабылдауға болады. Еркін аудармада ақын ұлттық менталитетті, ұлттық ұстанымдарды өз халқының түпкі салтына қарай өзгерте алады. Ахаңнан бөлек, Крыловтың шығармаларына Абай Құнанбайұлы да, Ыбырай Алтынсарин де қызықты, кейбіреуін аударды. Ендеше, Эзоп пен Лафантеннен бастау алған И.А.Крыловтың мысалдары жалпыадамзаттық құндылықтар деңгейіне жеткенін байқаймыз. Мұндағы ізгілік категориясы, ішкі катарсис мәселелері заман ағымына ілесе отырып, үнемі өзекті болып отырған.
